7.15pm - 9.45pm
Cost:
£3/person for whole or part of the evening - there is no reduction if you are only there for part of the night.
Location:
Sports Centre, The College, Artspace Lifespace, Bedminster
Marksbury Road, Bedminster, BS3 5JJ (Timsbury Rd entrance)
All props/non props/everyone welcome!! Plenty of space for hoopers, spinners, jugglers and anyone else that requires space. Unfortunately, at present, there are no mirrors but we will be looking into this. There is properly high ceilings though!!! :)
Very occasionally the hoop jam will be replaced by visiting teacher workshops but there will be lots of prior warning when this is the case and there is nothing currently planned for Feb or March. It may be possible to run visiting workshops in a separate space.
TRAVEL
Parking:
If enough people are coming the College will open it’s car park, if not there is plenty of on street parking.
The Centre is in South Bristol just off St John’s Lane and a 10-15min walk from Bedminster Parade - I’ll post info on buses soon.
Lift share:
If you are driving over from the North please post on the event wall and see if anyone needs a lift.
Music
We want to make sure it’s varied so two people will provide the music for each session.
The first half of the music on 18th Jan will be provided by Emma at Hooping Mad
If anyone wants to donate their music for the second half of the jam please post below - it needs to be able to be connected to the bloc so mp3/ipod/laptop works.
We’ll change the music up every week so everyone gets to have a go at their music.
If people can send their playlist to Emma at hoopingmad@hotmail.co.uk then I’ll make sure it all gets posted on the website.
WHAT’S A HOOP JAM?
A Hoop Jam is a space with music that is provided for hoopers and similar manipulators to meet and practice.
It is open to all.
It is a chance to hoop/dance/train/practice in an indoor space with lots of room.
Some people come to hoop solidly for the whole time. Others treat it as a social event. Most people are somewhere in the middle and use it both to practice and meet friends.
We’re really friendly so please come along and see what it’s all about.
There is NO FORMAL TEACHING at the Hoop Jam.
There will be some spare hoops available so if you are a beginner and want to come along please do. People are very friendly and will help you get started.
Also, informal trick swapping is standard at Jams just make sure you wait until people have stopped what they’re doing before you ask.
POST-JAM DRINKS
The Victoria Park pub is a short walk from the venue
Slightly further on is the Windmill.
There’ll definitely be a post pub contingent heading to one of the above pubs.
